Maths

Maths lessons at Moon Hall School are based on guidelines from the Numeracy Framework.
The work is adapted each year to suit the needs of the children. We aim to provide a curriculum that encourages pupils to achieve their potential and to foster an enjoyment of Maths.

It is our policy to:

  • work in small groups
  • use a multi-sensory approach
  • use practical apparatus and concrete materials throughout the learning process
  • place emphasis on understanding Maths language
  • ensure pupils are competent in Basic Skills and are able to apply them in problem-solving situations related to everyday life.
  • fill gaps in working knowledge by frequent revisiting and reinforcement of topics
  • give support on a one-to-one basis when necessary
