We
believe that the ability to type proficiently is a vital skill for
all - but especially for dyslexic children. At Moon Hall School
every pupil is taught to touch-type from the age of seven.
Older pupils are then made conversant
with word-processing conventions and are entered for O.C.R. examinations
in Year 6 and above. We seek to develop self-esteem, along with
the skills, and feelings of self-worth are enhanced by the fact
that the majority of our entrants gain distinctions in exams designed
for college students and adults.
We have a wide range of typing-tutor
software including an accelerated-learning program which offers
familiarity with the keyboard in four hours.
We
are pleased to be able to offer typing tuition to
external
pupils. Lessons take place after the normal school
day.
