CRITERIA
FOR ACCEPTANCE:
Applicants should be of average ability, or above,
and have an Assessment from an Educational Psychologist indicating
that they have Specific Learning Difficulties/Dyslexia.
Moon Hall is unable to accept
children who have emotional or behavioural problems which might
seriously inhibit their progress or disrupt others. We do not have
the facilities to help children with severe speech, language or
dyspraxic difficulties.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
Parents who would like a place at
Moon Hall for their child should register with us direct. As a small
specialist school with a very limited number of places, we have
to carefully assess the suitability of each pupil before making
a decision as to whether we can offer a place. Moon Hall will not
offer any child a place unless the staff feel confident that they
can help him or her. We only accept children when they have joined
us for at least one morning to see whether they fit in with the
existing pupils in their likely grouping. Their visit should result
in them wanting to join us. We cannot accept children whose behaviour
may compromise the learning of others (or, indeed, their own learning).
If an assessment and consultation
are required, a combined fee of £540.00 is payable to Moon
Hall School. This fee comprises £270.00 for a placement assessment
together with a written report and £270.00 for subsequent
O.T./ Speech and Language assessments. Of course, if we are unable
to offer a place, only half of the fee is payable.
Due to the high demand for places
at the school, a place is only held on payment of a deposit of £550.00
which is refunded when a pupil leaves the site.
Where places are offered, the first term's fee is payable the month
before commencement (i.e. the fees for a new pupil starting at the
beginning of the Michaelmas Term should be received by the Moon
Hall Office no later than 1st August).
